About the Department

The Department of Computer Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design at Bartın University was established in 2008. The department consists of three main divisions: Computer Software, Computer Science, and Computer Hardware.

Undergraduate education commenced in the 2018–2019 academic year. Currently, the department employs 3 Associate Professors, 9 Assistant Professors, and 7 Research Assistants, making up an academic staff of 19 members in total.

The undergraduate program in Computer Engineering spans 4 years (8 semesters). The language of instruction is Turkish; however, students may optionally take a one-year preparatory program in a foreign language if they wish.

During the first two years, students are introduced to fundamental engineering courses as well as introductory courses in computer engineering. In the final two years, in addition to core courses specific to the field, students are offered a range of elective courses that allow them to specialize in line with their interests and career goals. This structure supports students in developing expertise in software, hardware, or other subfields of computer engineering.

As part of the undergraduate curriculum, students must complete a one-semester compulsory workplace training during their senior year. For graduation, students are required to successfully complete all compulsory courses, earn a total of 240 ECTS credits including electives, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Our department has been accredited by MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) for the period of May 1, 2024 – September 30, 2026.
Additionally, as of December 20, 2024, our program has been authorized to use the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) logo. This reflects that our program is aligned with national qualification standards and provides education with assured quality.
